Shweta Basu Prasad started her career as a child actress in 2002 at the age of 11. She acted in dual role as Chunni and Munni in her debut film Makdeeand got the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for the same. She also acted as a child artist in the Star Plus serial Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki as Shruti, Parvati and Oms daughter.
In 2005, she acted in Iqbal as Khadija, which propelled her to mini stardom and got subsequent film offers. In 2006 she acted in Ram Gopal Varma's Darna Zaroori Hai as Ashu. She recently debuted in Tollywood as a heroine in the film Kotha Bangaru Lokam, which also castsVarun Sandesh as the hero. She is well acclaimed for her acting in all the languages.
She studies commerce in the R. N Podar High School, Santa-Cruz, Mumbai.
