Dhanush and Jawahar Mithran together have earlier worked together in couple of remakes ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ and ‘Kutty’. With one of them being a grand success and another as an average fare, the duo is back in action with yet another remake entertainer. ‘Uthama Puthiran’ is a remake of yesteryear Telugu blockbuster titled ‘Ready’. The Tamil remake proves to be an excellent family entertainer laced with romance, comedy, family, sentiments and drama.

The film revolves around Siva (Dhanush), who belongs to a rich family and is an engineering college student. He is thrown into discombobulated scenario thrown out of his house for helping his cousin girl marry her boyfriend on the day of marriage. But Siva’s uncle Raghu (Bhagyaraj) sends money through his friend. In an unexpected turn of events, Siva kidnaps Pooja (Genelia D’ Souza) for a mistaken identity while helping his friend marry girlfriend. Siva had already fallen in love with Pooja while she passed through him in a car. Now he comes to know that even Pooja isn’t interested in marriage and she is forced to marry for the sake of property by her uncle. Now Siva tries to woo Pooja and win the favor of family members for marrying her.

Dhanush has been continuously getting through action-oriented roles and romantic characters. For the first time, he has opted a family entertainer. Apart from Dhanush, many actors have lots of importance in this film. Bhagyaraj, RK, Ambika, Rekha, Mayilsamy and many others have done a great job. Even the villain characters have been portrayed in a comic style. Vivek is the greatest highlight of this film as his characterization as ‘Emotional Ekambaram’ steals the show with his fantabulous body language.
The songs are good with couple of enjoyable numbers and cinematography is pleasant. The film doesn’t have any negative points.

Touring talkies to become a Kalyana Mandapam

Sriman who had acted in more than 125 films in various languages is now producing a film titled Parimala Thira Arangam under the banner Wales Film International. New face Vikash is the hero of the film. He is the grandson of the late comedy actor Isari Ganesh.

Taapsee has completed Aadukalam and is now acting in a Telugu film. She says that Aadukalam will take her to the next level. She while speaking to the media said,” It is true that everyone has acted well in Aadukalam. The characters and the story is not the usual one.

While acting in some films there will be an involvement without our knowledge. Aadukalam has given to all the unit members this involvement. I am from Delhi. Madurai was totally different when I first went there.

Though there was a little bewilderment in the beginning I later on began to be normal with others. I am donning a role of an Anglo Indian girl in this film. The romance between me and Dhanush will be very new. I am donning a serious role. Many are asking me whether Vetrimaaran has taught me Tamil.

I am totally new to Tamil cinema. On the first day of the shooting I never knew a single Tamil word. I was little scared. Then I started to listen to the Tamil spoken by the unit members. I told Vetrimaaran about this. He bought me a book that can make me learn Tamil in 30 days. During the shooting break I learnt a few words. Dhanush has also taught me Tamil.

Popular comedy actor M S Bhaskar participated in the shooting of a film which has Vikram in the lead role. The film is directed by Vijay who directed Kireedom, Poi Solla Porom and Madrasapattinam.

Anushka and Amala Paul are the heroines of this film. The shooting took place in Ooty. M S Bhaskar after completing the shooting was returning to Pollachi from Ooty at about 10 p m.

An auto rickshaw barged into the car in which he was travelling. The car was damaged very badly. But luckily M S Bhaskar escaped without any injuries.

Sneha while speaking to the media said,” The director has said that the film Bhavani in which I have done the lead role is being released this December. I am currently acting with Sarathkumar in Vidiyal and Ponnar Shankar which has Prasanna in the lead role.

I am also acting with Nagarjuna in a Telugu film. I want to act in good films. I don’t have any other ambitions. After Autograph, I am yet to get a good film. Only the director and the producer should answer to this question.

For the last ten years I have not acted in glamour roles. In future also I will not act in glamour roles. My favourite actor is Kamal Haasan. Radhika is my favourite actress. I love Rajni’s style. I want to act with him at least in one film. I don’t know politics. So I don’t have the intention of coming into politics.

How did you become an actor?
I did a small role with Goundamani in the Sathyaraj starrer Malabar Police. Then I appeared with Vadivelu in the film Manu Needhi. Though I did character roles in Kodambakkam, Oram Po and Vetrivel Sakthivel, I did not get the expected. So I thought that acting is not suitable for me and I patiently waited. Myna has now changed my life. This film is a turning point.
How did you become a director?
I actually came to cinema to write lyrics and compose music. Unexpectedly I became a director. I directed Manu Needhi which had Murali in the lead role and also Vadivelu starrer Indralogathil Na Azhagappan. Now I will be directing a new film titled Oru Koodai Mutham which has new faces. I have written all the songs and also worked as a co music composer in this film.
Will you continue to direct films?
Acting and directing are two eyes. I want to see a scene with my both the eyes at the same time. I am currently acting in a film which has Krishna in the lead role. This film is being directed by Ramanarayanan. I am also in a film titled Aanamalai Kandhan. I am also acting in the film which has Vikram in the lead role directed by Susindhran. I am also having Arjunan Kadhali and Oru Koodai Mutham in my hands. I will not act in one or two scenes. I will be doing full length roles.
There is news that you are starting some organization?
Yes. I have no son or daughter expecting my money. So I have decided to give away the money to the older people. I want to shower my affection on them. I will be starting an organization called Annai Madi which means Mother’s Lap. This will be a forerunner for all such kind of organizations.

Amala Paul is pairing with Arya in Vettai directed by Lingusamy. After Myna, talks are going on with Amala Paul to act in four films with leading heroes. The final stage talks are going on with her to act in the film Devamagan which has Vikram in the lead and is to be directed by Vijay.

Similarly producers have approached Amala Paul to act in the films which will have Dhanush and Simbhu in the lead roles respectively. Though she is getting lots of offers in Malayalam, she is very interested to act in Tamil films. Amala Paul while speaking said,” Though there were sensations when I acted in Sindhu Samaveli, the film Myna introduced me to everyone.

So far I have listened to ten stories. I have agreed for some films. I am pairing with Arya in Vettai. Talks with regard to Devamagan are going on. I can’t say that I am selecting films that have leading actors in the cast because story is also important.”

Sasikumar says that he is Eesan

Eesan is the next film of Sasikumar. He has begun this film and completed it without anybody’s knowledge. When we told that there is a great craze for him among college girls, he felt shy. We spoke to the creator of Eesan.
 

Right from beginning of this film I was very firm that this film should not make people remember my earlier films. But there is also a character in this film like you have said. There are only 12 characters in this film. But you will not see the actors since they had lived their roles.

You are giving wonderful films. What type of books do you read?
I want to tell you the truth. During my assistant director days, I never has the time to read books. Lots of my friends use to give literary books. But I have never read these. Now I have started reading books given by my friends.

There was confusion in the title of this film? When my friends asked me what was the title of this film I told them Subramaniapuram is a village subject and the next is city ( Nagaram). On hearing this, the media said that the title of my next film is Nagaram. Usually I will title the film only after completing the shooting. Now only the title has been finalized as Eesan.

Who is Eesan? (He laughs) As far as this film is concerned I am Eesan.

What was the experience you had while shooting for Eesan?

I have an unforgettable experience. When I use to shoot in Madurai areas, people there use to feel bad seeing our hard work. They use to cook for us and feed us. They will so intimate and affectionate with us. But I had a difference experience when I was shooting for Eesan in Chennai. We had taken permission and were shooting in an apartment. But it seems that some on has said that they can lot of money from cinema people. Because of this they permitted the shooting only after receiving the money. People in the city have the worst intention of grabbing the money from cinema people. We can make film with such kind of obstacles.

What is next?

I am growing hair for my next film which is to be directed by Samudrakani. The role is like that one of Che Guevara. The film is titled Porali.

All of your films have a different type of interesting characters. For instance in Nadodigal the role of Viji’s father and similarly in Subramaniapuram, the role of the mike ser man. Is there any such character in Eesan?

Vijay has kept aside his formula like punch dialogues, Kuthu songs and ferocious fights and is acting as a silent romantic hero in the film Kaavalan. Now in order to disturb his peace there are two heroines in this film. One is Asin and another one is Kerala import Mitra. Mitra says that she has won Vijay in the contest.

Though this Cochin girl is new to Tamil she has already acted in six Malayalam films. Not only this, she has also acted as Nayanthara’s friend in Body Guard which is now being remade in Tamil with the title Kaavalan. In Tamil also she is donning the same role.
When she was asked about pairing with Vijay, she said,” I never expected this. There are thousands of fans for Vijay in Kerala. There are lots of fans for Vijay in the college in which I am studying. Whenever Vijay films are released here, they will also be released in Kerala on the same day. Because of this we will never miss his films.

What a big opportunity I got by pairing with Vijay. My friends are very eager to see this film. Many are asking me whether I am donning vamp role in this film. I am donning the role of the heroine’s friend. But I will have a deep love with Vijay in my heart. But at the appropriate time I will reveal my love to him. I will avoid mentioning my friend’s love to him. In that way I will make the hero my possession.
At that time I am the heroine. The climax after this will make me a vamp. Until then Asin is not the heroine. Only I am the heroine. My favourite heroes are Rajni, Kamal, Vijay and Surya.”

Hari speaks about Vengai

Vengai is a film which has Dhanush and Thamanna in the lead roles. Raj Kiran is donning an important role in this film. Hari is directing this film. Hari while speaking about this film said,” This is also a village based study. Of all the 10 films I have directed, I carry my camera and run to Karaikkudi.

I will show that place itself as Tirunalveli or Tuticorin. Now that place has become like my native place. The rituals they do during the marriage or child birth and for all the good and bad things are so wonderful. Dhanush has also become as if that place is his native place. For the first time Dhanush is acting in my film.

For a very long time, I like him very much. We cannot say anything about wrong about his acting. I was little scared whether he will suit in this film because he use to act in romantic films directed by his brother. But after seeing Polladhavan and Padikadhavan, I saw his growth. Immediately I felt that I should utilize him. I caught him at the right time. I got hold of him tightly and embraced him.

I am going to take him to my place. So I told him that you will miss your family and children for one month and asked him to pamper his kids. With regard to the heroine Thamanna, I have not told the story to any of my heroines. I will send my assistants to them. But in the case of Thamanna, I sat with her for three hours and narrated the story to her.

I wanted to bring a brave effect to her role who is scared of cockroaches and lizards. I told that how she should transform herself to extend of wielding a sickle. Though she is a Mumbai girl, she understood the role and we will be to extract the work from her.”

 

Prabhu Deva’s wife says that her children are psychologically affected

Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara are almost on the verge of getting married and they never seem to part ways even after Prabhu Deva’s wife has been weeping for mercy from Nayanthara. But she has no regrets for her requests and is sure about marrying Prabhu Deva shortly.

Says Ramalath: ‘I have been constantly praying to God to bring back my husband to me. I never expected that Nayanthara would be so arrogant. She used to visit my house regularly and call me ‘Akka’ (meaning sister in English) and used to gift my children with chocolates and more goodies. But I was very much unaware that she would create such a big trouble in our family lives.

I was shocked to hear her saying – Please Akka sacrifice your husband for me. How would any women feel on hearing such things? Our eldest son Vishal passed away due to chronic cancer and the very next day, he never showed any concern towards the family and started moving around with her.

My Children are so infuriated with her for having cheated them and me. Even they spot her photographs over the magazines; they are tearing it and put off the TV Channels, if any visuals of her appear. They are very much depressed and psychologically affected as they would wake up in the middle of night and ask ‘When Daddy will be back mummy’?’
