Director Seeman was released from the Vellore prison yesterday. He while speaking to the media said that he is going to contest in the forthcoming assembly elections.
Seeman who is a film director and Naam Tamizhar Iyakkam president protested against the killings of the innocent Indian fishermen by the Srilankan Navy on July 10th before the Collector office in Chennai. In continuation of this, he was arrested under the National Security Act and was lodged in the Vellore prison. At this point of time, James Peter who is the brother of Seeman had filed a petition in the Madras High Court to cancel the Government’s order and release him. When this case came before the Honorable Judges, after going through the petition cancelled the police orders and also ordered release of Seeman.
Seeman around 2.30 pm was released from the prison. Director Bala and Gowthaman welcomed Seeman with a shawl and a bouquet. Huge members of Naam Tamizhar Iyakkam and MDMK members also gathered in large numbers to welcome him.
