Successful Filmmakers, Unsuccessful sons

In Tamil film industry, this has been evident from a very long time. The most happening maverick filmmakers of Kollywood have failed to get their sons reach over the top. We bring you an exclusive look on such directors and about their sons middling career.

Bharathiraja: He has been such a wonderful director, but yet he has not been so successful in launching his son Manoj. Manoj always wanted to be a fantabulous filmmaker, but had to take up acting with his father’s advise. He made his debut under such a big project titled ‘Taj Mahal’ that was made in the collaboration of his father Bharathiraja-Manirathnam-A.R. Rahman-Vairamuthu. But the film bombed at box office and the actor strived to make it bigger in other projects. But the result was again the same. Bharathiraja had plans about remaking his yesteryear blockbuster ‘Sigappu Rojakkal’ with Manoj. But it didn’t happen.

Bhagyaraj: He wasn’t just a victorious filmmaker, but a great screenwriter, story teller and a finest actor as well. His Santhanoo was supposed to make his debut in Sasikumar’s ‘Subramaniapuram’, but Bhagyaraj didn’t want his son to be a part of film that has a tragic ending. It was a wrong decision and his first film ‘Sakkarakatti’ was a box office disaster. Now Santhanoo has completed shooting ‘Aayiram Vilakku’ and the closer sources reveal that he has done a great job. He is also done with his father’s direction ‘Siddhu +2, First Attempt’. Let us hope he gives a good performance in these films.

Pandiarajan: In all likelihood, Pandiarajan is also one of the versatile actor and storyteller of golden ages in Tamil film industry. His son Prithvi isn’t able to make it bigger. But as a successful director and a responsible father, we are sure he would reach his son to a top-charting position in mere future.
